Cocoon Time: Feeling Shell by Hye Seomoon

Feeling Shell by Hye Seomoon

Feeling shell by Hye Seomoon is a design that allows for an escape from everyday life. This FestiveNESS pick is surely cozy with its cocoon-like shape, but it also asks important questions about design and sentience. It returns to the age-old question, perhaps forgotten in the need for efficiency in our hectic lifestyles: but how does it make you feel?

Feeling Shell by Hye Seomoon

Feeling shell is a membrane that protects you when you are feeling anxious. Once inside, the body is covered to maximize relaxing. Resembling a butterfly cocoon, this furniture is made with hemp cloth, symbolic of a return to our roots. The hemp is reworked to make it durable through the use of layers and a traditional Korean process of starching. Wool string is sewn to produce the organic shape. Hye Seomoon is a designer based in Seoul, South Korea.
