Expert Traces: Perturbation by Gaëtan Didier, Derudet, and Ausseresse Jonathan

Perturbation by Gaëtan Didier, Derudet, and Ausseresse Jonathan

Day 14 of FestiveNESS explores the value of collaboration and expert material knowledge. Perturbation is designed by Gaëten Didier, edited by marble maker Derudet, and includes glasswork by Ausseresse Jonathan. It is a material assembly that asks what vestiges of expert knowledge are left in its rich, diverse form.

In this unique piece, the cloudy grey is in juxtaposition with the almost pious nature of its laminated rock and glass. The glass acts as an optical fiber and guides the light throughout the design. The processing of the marble is the fruit of a subtle assemblage of marble slats that is part of the purest manual tradition of marble makers. The know-how and thoroughness of the gestures are reproduced to reveal each slat and sublimate their veins, colors, and nuances.
